Donate Using Venmo

Donors can now use Venmo to donate to the Community Library Foundation. As more and more people use online tools to easily move money, the Foundation has set up a Venmo account to facilitate easier donations. Foundation Funds Eagle Scout Project

The Community Library Foundation agreed to support an Eagle Scout project to expand the library’s community garden. The Eagle Scout project will add elevated garden beds, making it easier for gardeners by reducing the need to bend over. The project also includes the installation of a fence around the perimeter of the garden. The fence will deter animals from getting into the garden. Projects like this are only possible with public support of the Foundation.

Central Ohio Symphony

At the July meeting, the Community Library Foundation approved funding for a performance of the Central Ohio Symphony at the Community Library later this year. With the generous support of the Foundation, this event will be free to the public. Continue to watch the library’s website for specific dates for the event.

Foundation Establishes Judy Denton Memorial Fund

In memory of Judy Denton, a long-time patron and supporter of the library, as well as a former board member of the Community Library Foundation, the Foundation has established the Judy Denton Memorial Fund. Judy was an active member of one of the local book clubs affiliated with the Community Library in Sunbury. In her memory, the Foundation has designated that donations collected in Judy’s memory will be directed to the purchasing of future book club sets for community use.

New Director Appointed to Foundation Board

At the June 9 meeting of the Community Library Board of Trustees, the board voted to appoint Heather Mesko-Ryba to the Foundation Board of Directors. Heather’s professional experience, coupled with her involvement in other local activities, makes her an excellent fit for the Foundation. The Foundation is thrilled to have her on board.

New Officers Elected

On January 27, the Board of Directors elected new officers for the 2020 year. Kathy Killen will serve as president. Alex Trucco was elected as vice-president. The Foundation currently has a vacancy. If there is interest in serving, please contact Chauncey Montgomery at chauncey@yourcl.org.

Foundation Funds Lepola Photo Project

At the November 18 meeting, the Foundation voted to fund the archiving of Lenny Lepola’s photographs. Lepola, previously with The Sunbury News, has an extensive collection of photographs of the Big Walnut area from over the past two decades. He has generously donated the photographs to the library for public use. The library will archive them and make them available online for research and future generations. We’re really excited about this project.

Central Ohio Symphony Is Coming

At the July 22 meeting, the Foundation approved funding a performance by the Central Ohio Symphony. For several years now, the Foundation has supported performances at the library by the Central Ohio Symphony. These concerts are free and open to all age groups. The Foundation is able to support programs like the Central Ohio Symphony because of the generous donations of our community.

Wrapping Up 2018

The Board of Directors met on January 28, 2019 to finish 2018 business. The Board will be electing officers for the next year at the next quarterly meeting, on April 22.
